Cristiano Ronaldo netted his 980th career goal on Oct. 9, 2026, turning out for Al Nassr against Al Diriyah in the Saudi Pro League. The milestone strike came as a notable moment for the Portuguese forward.

It was his first club appearance back after recent issues with Portugal's national team setup. The result for Al Nassr gave the club a welcome result heading further into the season.

Al Nassr's starting lineup also included several Gulf Cup 27 winners for the Diriyah derby. The combination of talent has made Al Nassr a strong contender in the Saudi Pro League this season.

The goal moves him nearer to whatever record he is chasing in the Saudi Pro League. At this point in his playing days, each additional goal draws fresh attention around how far he can go.
