Isaac Heeney, a player currently facing suspension from the Sydney Swans, was awarded the club's best and fairest award. The award was revealed amid changes to the Swans' 'best and fairest' criteria. Sexual assault advocates raised objections to Heeney's remarks, calling it insensitive. The controversy followed Heeney's first public appearance after his suspension, where he expressed happiness about winning the award. The incident has sparked debate about the club's handling of player conduct and the criteria for such awards.
