Liverpool academy product Lewis Koumas wants more first-team minutes under new manager Andoni Iraola. His summer tour opportunity comes after Iraola’s first match in charge saw Liverpool defeat Sunderland by 4-2 in Nashville. Sunderland, recently beaten by Liverpool, now appears as a potential loan option for Koumas. The young joined Sunderland’s preseason setup this week but may face stiff competition for playing time from other homegrown players. Iraola took over on July 24, 2026, with Koumas one of several academy products pushing for greater involvement in the first team.
