The ICC has fined Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sri Lanka player Asitha Fernando 25 per cent of their match fees after a confrontational dispute on the field. The incident happened on 24 August 2026 during the Test match in Colombo. During the fixture, Jaiswal made physical contact with Fernando with his head while on the pitch, leading to sanctions from match officials. Both Cricinfo and the ICC verified the fines issued to the players for poor conduct.
Following the ruling, Jaiswal accepted the sanction but maintained his position. He stated that he was justified during the pitch argument. Speaking to Indulge Express, he insisted that India would continue to fight hard in their following games despite the recent confrontation.
