Meta has agreed to pay up to 18 billion US dollars to resolve actions brought by US states regarding platform addiction and harms to children.
The landmark settlement addresses legal claims from California and other states focused on adolescent usage issues across its online services.
As part of the deal, Meta also committed to major operational adjustments on Facebook and Instagram. The legal pact settles active court battles in the United States involving claims over online risks to children and teens.
